I am closing this feature request. The maintainer (mi@) gave negative feedback
on the proposed mount_smbnetfs script approach, noting existing workarounds.
fuz@FreeBSD.org asked in February 2025 "Is there anything left to do with this
bug report?" and received no response. The feature has documented workarounds
and no community demand.
