I'm closing this as the port sysutils/grub2-bhyve is unmaintained
(ports@FreeBSD.org) and still at version 0.40. The underlying issue (grub2 not
supporting XFS with CRC metadata) is an upstream limitation. The specific use
case (booting CentOS 7 VMs) is now obsolete since CentOS 7 reached EOL in June
2024. Only a single participant, no patch, and no activity for 5 years.
