            Bug ID: 296380
           Summary: Failed to build glib
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: cb34@fureai.or.jp

Since the default Python version was changed from 3.11 to 3.12, I tried to
update based on the ‘20240529’ entry in /usr/ports/UPDATING.

Because glib depends on py311-packaging, it needed to be rebuilt, but the build
failed with the following error.

----------
Header “sys/ptrace.h” has symbol “PTRACE_O_EXITKILL” : NO

meson.build:2700:14: ERROR: Could not execute command
`/usr/ports/devel/glib20/work-default/.bin/g-ir-scanner --version`.
----------

The fact that “PTRACE_O_EXITKILL” is not defined in FreeBSD’s “sys/ptrace.h” is
not a recent change—it has always been this way—so I didn’t understand why this
build failed with this error. After all, I had successfully built and installed
it before.

If you know what is causing this build to fail, or if you have any insights,
please let me know.
