Thanks to upstream maintainer, it has been fixed quickly.

This patch updates to latest version 0.9.21 (was 0.9.19), downloads upstream
patch to fix build without metrics option, moves crates to Makefile.crates.

Tested build in Poudriere on 14.4-RELEASE-amd64-main-6c7d912bf572 and it seems
OK including `make test`.
