Hi,

What happened?
Since upgrading from Conky 1.22.3 to 1.24.0, mouse clicks on the desktop are
blocked under lightweight window managers (Fluxbox, Openbox, Fvwm3).
Right-click desktop menus are no longer accessible when Conky is running.
The issue does not occur under Xfce, which manages its own desktop layer via
Xfdesktop independently of Conky.
The bug is reproducible with the default Conky configuration — it is not a
personal config issue.
Root cause identified : In 1.23.0, BUILD_XINPUT was removed and XInput2 is now
used directly and unconditionally for X11 mouse input. This causes Conky to
capture mouse events and prevent them from reaching the root window/desktop
under lightweight WMs.
Workaround : Recompiling Conky from source with MOUSE_EVENTS=off restores
correct behavior.

Steps to reproduce

Install Conky 1.24.0
Launch a session under Fluxbox, Openbox or Fvwm3
Start Conky with default config
Right-click on the desktop → menu does not appear


Expected behavior
Mouse clicks should pass through the Conky window to the desktop, allowing
window manager menus to appear.

Environment

OS: FreeBSD 15.1 amd64
Conky: 1.24.0
Display server: X11
Window managers affected: Fluxbox, Openbox, Fvwm3
Window manager NOT affected: Xfce (via Xfdesktop)
Conky compiled features: X11, Xinput, Mouse events, Xshape (click through)


Compiled features (conky --version)
* Xshape extension (click through)
* Xinput
* Mouse events

Workaround
Recompile Conky with MOUSE_EVENTS=off — desktop clicks are restored correctly.
