Bug ID: 296109
Summary: www/npm-node24: causes hangs in fetch phase in
dependent ports on armv7
Product: Ports & Packages
Version: Latest
Hardware: arm
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: Individual Port(s)
Assignee: sunpoet@FreeBSD.org
Reporter: fuz@FreeBSD.org
Flags: maintainer-feedback?(sunpoet@FreeBSD.org)
Assignee: sunpoet@FreeBSD.org
This port causes weird hangs during fetch in ports using NPM. For example,
here is misc/grok-cli on 2026Q2:
=======================<phase: fetch >============================
===== env: NO_DEPENDS=yes USER=root UID=0 GID=0
===> License MIT accepted by the user
npm warn config global-style This option has been deprecated in favor of
`--install-strategy=shallow`
npm warn Unknown global config "python". This will stop working in the next
major version of npm. See `npm help npmrc` for supported config options.

A process titled "node: npm" then hangs indefinitely at ~80 % CPU, repeating
the following system calls:
read(4,"*",1) = 1 (0x1)
write(17,"$\M-8\M-D(\^E\0\0\0",8) ERR#35 'Resource temporarily
unavailable'
write(5,"*",1) = 1 (0x1)

},0x0) = 0 (0x0)
Some times npm crashes instead, e.g. in this trace from misc/gemini-cli:
=======================<phase: fetch >============================
===== env: NO_DEPENDS=yes USER=root UID=0 GID=0
===> License APACHE20 accepted by the user
