Applying the patch from
https://cgit.freebsd.org/ports/commit/?id=7c2c2a20c27af2c6dfdc8342ac39bb5c882c3eba
to devel/py-cxx resolves the issue.
It looks like the patch was made to the vendored copy, but not the port copy.
