My initial thoughts are to add GHR to MASTER_SITES to calculate the github release archive url. Then ports add MASTER_SITES=GHR as they update to use this url. After three years, why hasn't this been changed yet? For using else I haven't looked through a lot of ports to see what others do, I'm just thinking of sane coding in general.
