I've started a few updates to the upgrade process to stop the original process
before replacing the binary, and then start the process again.  Based on my
reading, it does look like there is an interaction between Go and FreeBSd which
is undesirable.

I've got the new version running with good initial results, so we'll need to
find a committer.
