* Update to latest commit, October 26 2025
* Switch to using date as version like other repos and following Porters
Handbook's recommendation
* Add pkg-config helper
* Backport various upstream PRs to fix bugs and multiple CVEs

  CVE-2023-45666 , CVE-2023-45667 , CVE-2023-45675 , CVE-2023-45681
  CVE-2023-43898
* Patch from upstream PR 1551 is added locally as it doesn't apply cleanly from
submission upstream
