You are unnecessary demanding and in fact hostile to the contributor.
The upstream there is very hard to work with, I can witness as I did tried to
upstream
much less hackish (IMO) port several years ago.

Regardless of what the upstream perceives, the port is there, and giving wider
user
access to it is only beneficial to the FreeBSD community, and is extremely
important
to re-gain any HPC foothold.

With the current project policy of expunging stale ports, I do not see how
would having
this added to the ports tree could be an issue.  IMO your action of closing the
PR
was not justified, at very least.
