I just took maintainership of the niri port and updated it to the latest
version.

Can you please elaborate what
CARGO_ENV=     RUST_LIBC_UNSTABLE_FREEBSD_VERSION=15
exactly does? I undestand it that it uses FreeBSD 15 ABI?
Why would that enable xwayland-satellite? What happens on FreeBSD 14?
