"offers functionality that's relevant today"

I've read the previous thread and the Debian thread; forgive me if I missed it,
but I'm none the wiser about what that functionality might be.

While dnscache has problems with the mess the Internet has become, it's still a
good tool on a private network. People still have those.

tinydns has no such issues.

"software which is actively maintained"

#include <inigo-montoya.h>

If "actively maintained" means updating something every other week because of a
security-related bug I'll have the "unmaintained" one please, no matter how
shiny and modern the new code is.

DNS is a small problem space, and the authoritative NS part even smaller. I
believe it can be fully considered and fully implemented, and that tinydns is
exactly that; there's 30 years of supporting evidence behind that belief.
