I'm happy there is movement here too. 

I've been running this locally, and it appears to mostly work. Delighted with
an up-to-date mu and mu4e! 

If I could make one suggestion, it would be to make the cld2 dependency an
option as well. There seems to be an optimization bug such that mu index
crashes randomly for me inside cld2. It doesn't show up when I run in a
debugger or build with only debug symbols :-(. So, it might be worth making it
possible to build without cld2 (even though it's nice when it doesn't crash).
