That's why I argued for bugzilla. IMHO it should be the definitive answer/solution. If one is required to search for an open pr prior to attempting to work on a port. This situation is less likely. Having a commit bit makes it tempting to simply write the patch and commit it. It's quicker and easier and you've already got a lot on your plate. Which is what it seems happened to you with conky. If *everyone* had to use bugzilla. I think it might make this situation almost never happen. I'm not trying to beat anyone up here.
