Jordan, you've opened a number of PRs about this issue. You are correct: the
ports framework does not handle minimum versions, and it needs to. I put some
comments into bug #285326, but the solution needs to come at the framework
level, not at the individual port level.

I suggest that you close the individual port PRs that you've opened, and we
turn #285326 into a PR about improving the framework itself. I would most
likely reject patches that apply workarounds to individual ports.
