Hi Daisy, that workaround worked since the server rejected messages from
clients with older user agent strings while the protocol itself had not changed
too much for most activities to work. 

In the meantime, many changes to the protocol have happened, e.g. group format
so one could not create (and join, if I remember correctly) groups according to
new standard (v2).

I guess Linuxulator is the way to go now (but have not checked whether it works
due to lack if interest).
