btw i have latest 1.20-1.24 all built via ports today and 1.23 selected in my
DEFAULT_VERSIONS while (Mk/bsd.default-versions.mk has 1.21 fyi)

i have been seeing this same error on prometheus2 for weeks and put on the
back-burner.

i remember it from before i ever installed 1.24.

the same error occurs if i change USES in the Makefile from go:1.23 to go:1.24
