You're correct. By pressing the Alt key, when coming directly from the X
console, the keyboard works functionally.

When, I went back and forth to another terminal console, I pressed the Alt key
with Ctrl and F#, which is why it worked, when all that was needed was the alt
key.

I'm using the default keyboard layout, which is for US.

It still might be a bug, but that information makes it much better. Thank you
