Please note that I'm using (for many years now) synth to build my packages :-/.
So I got bitten by this as well. I just didn't understand, what synth is
actually doing when it verifies the dependencies. Now I think I do...

The impression I got was that the change in the apach24 makefile was done to
prevent people from installing mismatched packages built with different
options. I didn't like it very much because it protects just against one
possible mismatch.
