Chris, you may question the deprecation time for symbols such as avcodec_close,
which seems a bit tight with deprecation "only" since Februar 2024, and for the
next major release, which seems big.  OTOH this failure doesn't seem to be a
big issue from what I see in the Gentoo Linux patches for, say opencv. That's a
handful of lines including markup.
