Good question. Native OSS is not supported upstream. It is possible to select
between the Portaudio and Pulseaudio APIs at launch. OSS is one of the
officially supported backends for Portaudio, which I understand to be a wrapper
similar to Mozilla's Cubeb. In this light, could it make sense to drop
Pulseaudio or make it an optional dependency?
