gmid-2.0.4.diff

This supersedes bug #276588 since in the meantime I had to make two other minor
releases for some bugs.

2.0.4 is particularly important for FreeBSD since previous releases could end
up calling strnvis(3) with the argument in a different order.

While here, it would be nice to commit the diff in bug 278507 too.
