Patches to allow building without syscons(4) support

I always disable syscons(4) from my kernel configurations.  Unfortunately, I
have to enable "device sc" whenever I use NVIDIA GPUs.  The attached patches
allow me to disable syscons(4) support.  Note it is enabled by default to avoid
POLA.
