Thank you Ralf, I didn’t realise that’s how this would have occurred with the
packages for PowerDNS - I had (wrongly) assumed the dependencies were decided
at the package level.

That makes a lot of sense, and that’s a great idea - build from ports with a
different default MySQL setting. Thank you for that, and sorry for the noise :)
