I run into this problem today.

ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/php/20200930/mbstring.so: Undefined symbol
"php_pcre2_compile"

I'm running FreeBSD 14 and packages are fully updated:

FreeBSD beastie 14.0-RELEASE FreeBSD 14.0-RELEASE #0

$ pkg info -x 'php.*'
arcanist-lib-php80-20220518_5
