            Bug ID: 272907
Summary: www/firefox: 116.0 no longer uses native notifications
in KDE, and crashes often when displaying built-in
                    ones
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: gecko@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: gekkeprutser@gmail.com
                CC: grahamperrin@freebsd.org
             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(gecko@FreeBSD.org)
          Assignee: gecko@FreeBSD.org

Since Firefox 116.0 it no longer uses libnotify to display notifications
through KDE. KDE 5.27.6, FreeBSD 13.2-p1 on amd64

Furthermore, when it displays its native notifications it often hangs
completely so I had to turn notifications off. When it hangs the notification
box becomes locked in X-Windows (e.g. previous content from another window is
shown there). And all firefox windows will be unresponsive.

Things checked:

- About:config alerts.useSystemBackend is set to true (so it should use
libnotify)
- libnotify is still installed
- libinotify is also installed
- Don't see anything relevant to this in about:support
