I applied the patch and it still failed to build -- I still see a `strip -x`:

# grep -r STRIP math/trlan
math/trlan/Makefile:    @${STRIP_CMD} -x -o ${WRKDIR}/libtrlan.a
${WRKSRC}/libtrlan.a
