Hi, 

as kindly requested via private mail find here the official bug report :-)

Version 3.2.2_2 from ports and packages does not seem to create
/var/run/couchdb which the startscript expects to exist. As a result couchdb3
fails to start when invoked with the /usr/local/etc/rc.d/couchdb3 script.

Creating this missing folder with permissions for user/group couchdb instantly
solves the issue.
