If you have time, than this can be tested as web app, no extra or special h/w
required.

After install and start it can be accessed via web browser, some things work
out of box, like weather widget.
Some "integrations" requires only internet access, like speedtest.net.

Some UPnP/DLNA/zeroconf devices can be found in network, it can monitor cups
printers and work with soundbars and TVs.
