Thanks for the update.
Can you replace PORTVERSION with DISTVERSION?
It doesn't address my concern about prebuilt binaries.
Search for GO_MODULE in the porters handbook, the GO_TARGET to build are ./govc
and ./vcsim
You can drop ONLY_FOR_ARCH after addressing the previous point.
