Is this still an ongoing effort?  I haven't seen any updates to this PR in over
a month.  I'm willing to throw a virtual machine at this to help test it.  I
use FreeBSD + ZFS + Samba in production, but the unsupported samba port is
causing problems that may force me to migrate to Linux + ZFS + Samba (not to
knock Linux, but given the dependencies that have evolved over the last 11
years, I'd rather help contributed to update Samba than I would migrate from
FreeBSD to Linux).
