If its possible to fix the shared library issue (only this bug), independent of
the update, that's also preferable and likely to influence the pace of
progress.

If not, we should close this in favour of the update in bug 257311. Having two
issues each with separate patches/updates is likely to cause confusion, though
addressing both independently is the favourable course of action.
