            Bug ID: 257087
           Summary: x11-fonts/fontconfig problems with monospace font(s)
                    after updating from 2.13.93,1 to 2.13.93_1,1
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: desktop@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: grahamperrin@gmail.com

No problem with a boot environment that preceded the update:

    n247798-f39dd6a9784-b

I created, activated then booted a new environment:

    n247798-f39dd6a9784-c

– ran `pkg upgrade`, rebooted, started Thunderbird, observed something wrong
with fonts, started Firefox, observed a recurrence of symptoms that are
associated with Mozilla bug 1695575. Maybe most significant:

* normally (with my preferences) a monospace font is used for
  the URL in the address bar

* after updating fontconfig from 2.13.93,1 to 2.13.93_1,1
  a different font was used for the URL in the address bar and
  (Mozilla bug 1695575) the user interface became 'too wide'.

Temporary workaround – package locked
=====================================

I rebooted n247798-f39dd6a9784-b, locked fontconfig to 2.13.93,1. Created,
activated then booted a new environment:

    n247798-f39dd6a9784-d

– ran `pkg upgrade`, rebooted. Fonts appear OK in Thunderbird and Firefox.

Environment
===========

FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT.
