I am closing this bug as outdated. It was filed in December 2018 against an
early version of pkg, which has since been updated to version 2.6.2 through
many major releases. The reported edge case involving the -A and -v flag
combination was never confirmed by anyone else, and no patch was submitted.
With no activity for over 7 years and the extensive changes to pkg's codebase,
this is no longer actionable.
