FWIW, the issue came with 2.8.0, not 2.8.1

I've reported on the freebsd IRC channel that simply executing a pkg install
will churn the CPU for 15+ seconds and peak with 1.2GB RES.

I didn't even notice the db file to huge proportions, didn't check it.
