Attempting to go to the likes of: https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:16:amd64/
in a browser or such return "Not found": such places have not been created
yet. Same for https://pkg.freebsd.org/FreeBSD:16:aarch64/ .

Also, no FreeBSD port-package builder has completed a build for
FreeBSD 16 yet.

Basically: You tried too soon. Things are not ready yet.

FYI:
It is also the case that pkgbase for the various FreeBSD:15:*
are not yet updating after stable/15 was branched and things
started being adjusted. 2025-Sep-03/04 dated materials are
still what is provided, ignoring 32-bit powerpc which goes
back into July.
