It seems that removing libfmt-12.1.0 (devel/libfmt) and then rebuilding
openal-soft-1.25.0_1 (audio/openal-soft) makes everything working again.
Rebuilding and reinstalling devel/libfmt after audio/openal-soft is not a
problem, everything still works, but rebuilding audio/openal-soft once again
causes the error to reoccur.
This was not happening with previous audio/openal-soft versions.
