Hacking time to skip ads?

So, I had a thought.  Could a container (vm, jail, etc) be re-jiggered to
have different time than it's parent?

Why would I want this?  Think about running firefox in a container where
time proceeds based on a knob.  Ad starts playing -> turn knob to 2x or 4x,
ad finishes, turn knob back to 1x.

There is probably also uses for 0.5x and whatnot.  My thought is that
container time is something that they'd have trouble blocking.

... but it could also be cool for testing and fuzzing.
