Hmm: that's a slightly unfortunate name.  For me, a 'PURL' immediately refers to the very long-established Persistent URL framework and set of services [1].

Not your problem, of course, and I don't have anything useful to say about the problem you report, beyond remarking that I was scratching my head trying to make sense of it, because of the collision.
