It seems like with the following update

this particular port which uses Go is no longer version locked to a specific
version of Go. From what I understand, the updated syntax (+) now kind of uses
a similar strategy as go modules philosophy on following minimal versioning.
(Thanks for providing option that btw).

With a minimal version update, I would guess that this particular submitted
patch is no longer necessary. I can close this bug submission out in the next
few days or if anyone else agrees on it being unnecessary can close it sooner.
