Maybe, it is time to just make this flag into a no-op? As things stand, ImageMagick7, for one, is outright broken, when OpenMP is enabled -- though its C-code is Ok, all of the C++-code self-tests segfault, because they are compiled with g++10, whereas the stock c++ is used for mos= t of the dependencies.
