Well, instead of allowing `WX' globally, I'm now only setting it on firefox:

$ sudo elfctl -e +wxneeded /usr/local/lib/firefox/firefox \
      /usr/local/lib/firefox/firefox-bin

It works just as well--as a workaround for the time being.
