I didn't see you gpart show output before posting my last comment.

It looks like the slices are detected but only created in /dev/diskid.  I don't
know why they are not also in /dev/ada*, but you could try adding

kern.geom.label.disk_ident.enable=0

in /boot/loader.conf and reboot to see if that fixes it.
