I have since acquired a replacement power supply.  The SSD seems to have been
stable for the last 2 days.  Power levels in the BIOS seem to be better (the
3.3v no longer shows red in the bios).  I'm going to award points to Warner. 
I'm quite amazed because the rest of the system seemed quite stable but it
looks like he was right.  Thank you Warner!
I think this ticket can be closed.
