I'm also seeing this, on a recent STABLE. The size of L2ARC as reported by
bfs-stats shrinks over time, and I dont think its an accounting error, as the
performance of the datbase on the machine returns to what it was when I didnt
have L2ARC at all.
The odd thing is, when I reboot the machine, it then shows the L2ARC as being
full of data, and performance goes back to normal.
