Bottom section.

I looked at the output

 =>       34  246162605  ada0  GPT  (224G)
          34       1024     1  freebsd-boot  (512K)

and then continue straight on with the commands below not realising until later
I have missed the ZFS part of the text and ran the following command. (im on
UFS)

What I was suggesting is adding another line of output like:

     1064  480246784     2  freebsd-ufs  (229G)

as an example of what to look for before both the UFS and ZFS part commands.
