steps 1-4

Submitting my PR to complete the first steps, as per Committers Guide [0],
regarding New Committers, section 7.1.

A warm thank you to Nuno (eduardo) and Florian (flo) for being my mentors!
Also big thanks to Vladimir (vvd), who gave me a lot of guidance and support.
Also thank you to the other FreeBSD committers, who also took the time to look
at my previous PRs.

I have learnt, and I will continue to learn a lot in this awesome journey.
