            Bug ID: 273546
Summary: FreeBSD Handbook: descriptiveness, encouragement, etc
cetera for people seeking testimonials and the like
           Product: Documentation

Paraphrasing a recently received email, from an organisation that sponsored
some commits.

<https://freebsdfoundation.org/freebsd/> under 'Who is Using FreeBSD?',

> … A more comprehensive list can be found here. …

<https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/nutshell.html#introduction-nutshell-users>
redirects to
<https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/introduction/#nutshell> in the
FreeBSD Handbook,

> Welcome to FreeBSD!

It was not immediately obvious where to find a more complete list of vendors
that may be using FreeBSD.

----

When I dug, today: the link from the FreeBSD Handbook, back to the Foundation
site, did find the organisation in a page that someone captured two months ago:

The Project home page does more accurately link to
<https://docs.freebsd.org/en/books/handbook/introduction/#introduction-nutshell-users>,

> Who Uses FreeBSD?

– however, the Project's referring phrase does not do justice to the scope of
Foundation-provided testimonials:

> busiest web sites

Side note: the home page can be improved by, amongst other things, a _direct_
link to testimonials. Some overlap with discreet work in progress on bug
273017. These things should, please, be out of scope for this bug report.

----

For this report:

- focus on improving part(s) of the introduction within the Handbook

- take inspiration from <https://freebsdfoundation.org/about-us/testimonials/>

- I can contact someone at the Foundation, with reference to this report.
