Bug ID: 265611
Summary: Add explanation about ACL management in ZFS and
associated properties
Product: Documentation
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Many People
Priority: ---
Component: Books & Articles
Assignee: doc@FreeBSD.org
Reporter: clear.screen@orange.fr
A section about ACL management in ZFS chapter (20) should be added
- What is suported in current freebsd release : NFSV4, POSIX.1 ?
- How ZFS deals with that with zfs properties : acltype and xattr (=sa if posix
?)
and other properties
=> It can be a difficulty for ZFS user.
Use case 1 : This has serious implication with samba4.
Use case 2 : rsync from other FS can fail because of ACL type misconfiguration
NB : some commercial books avoid that explanations, so the FreeBSD handbook
should help users with that !
